SOS Getting Started Guide 1. First thing to do is take care of your nameservers! Nameservers are the redirectional servers that tell every connecting computer where your website is located. In this case the nameservers will tell your connecting client's internet browser to connect to your domain here at SOS.
If you have registered a new domain with SOS, skip to step 2 as all nameserver activity, including private nameserver set up, will be completed by SOS for you. Otherwise, contact your domain name provider and request a switch in nameservers to the following: Nameserver1: ns1.sos5.com Nameserver2: ns2.sos5.com Or, if you would like your own private nameservers, have them register your nameservers as the following: Nameserver1: ns1.yourdomain.com - IP: 66.98.218.16 Nameserver2: ns2.yourdomain.com - IP: 66.98.218.157 Then have them set your nameservers as: ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com You can use http://www.sos5.com/~username/ to access your website while you wait for your domain name to resolve (24-60 hours). Thereafter you can use your normal URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/
2. Begin uploading your site!
If you are connecting via FTP: [Download WS_FTP LE]
Point your FTP program to 66.98.218.16. Login with your username and password and begin uploading to the public_html folder. All .cgi and .pl scripts should be placed in the cgi-bin folder which is located within your public_html folder.
If you are connecting via cPanel's Online File Manager: Your website is ready to go! If you have any questions or concerns please click here. |
